Issues Encountered in the Jacked PHC Pile Installation

Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the issues that encountered in the jacked Prestressed High Strength Concrete (PHC) pile for a highraised building. These abnormal problems, such as, pile shaft burst due to excessive compression pressure; broken pile head; significantly higher than the target pile tip elevation as well as burst of groundwater after the pile installation, are discussed in the paper. Measures that mitigate these abnormals are also proposed.
