Abstract: A slope stability project is analyzed with the commercial finite difference software FLAC3D due to its powerful postprocess functions. However, greater difficulties are encountered in the model development due to the inclined nonhorizontal soil strata in using the FLAC3D software. A better approach to enhance the efficiency is to take the advantage of the ANASYS preprocessing functions for the model development. The results indicate that this combination can significantly improve the efficiency in resolving the complicated geometry as well as the subsurface conditions.
