Factors Triggering the Frequent Occurrence of Landslides in Enshi Tujia Miao Autonomous Prefecture

Abstract: The statistics show that, on an average, over a hundred landslide related hazards occur in Enshi TujiaMiao Autonomous Prefecture each year. These geohazards pose a serious threat to the safety of the local residents and their daily economical activities. This paper reviewed the local subsurface, hydrological conditions, precipitation data as well as human activities. The factors that might cause the frequent landslides are summarized.
