Abstract: The statistics show that, on an average, over a hundred landslide related hazards occur in Enshi TujiaMiao Autonomous Prefecture each year. These geohazards pose a serious threat to the safety of the local residents and their daily economical activities. This paper reviewed the local subsurface, hydrological conditions, precipitation data as well as human activities. The factors that might cause the frequent landslides are summarized.
