Abstract: This paper presents numerical analysis resutls of deep excavation near existing buildings by using FLAC3D. The soil mass is simulated by MohrCoulomb model and the supporting structures are approximated by pile elements and ground anchor elements. The analysis results indicate that the prestressed ground anchors with soldier piles reduce the deformation of adjacent soil mass as well as the differential deformations at both sides of the nearby buildings. It is also concluded that prestressed ground anchors have significant effect on the horizontal stress in the excavated area.
