Abstract: The composite ground of large diameter columns formed by Deep Dynamic Compaction (DDC) method is numerical analyzed by using commercial software ANSYS.  The analytical results indicate that a good compatibility between the DDC formed columns and surrounding soils is demonstrated. The DDC formed composite ground belongs to a composite soil of semirigid and semiflexible subgrades. The compression modulus of surrounding soils has a significant impact on the bearing capacity of the composite foundations. The length of the column has less influence on the bearing capacity of the treated foundations.
