The Correlative Study between the Point Load and Uniaxial Compressive Strength of the Weathered Granite in Tianjin Pan Mountain Area

Abstract

Abstract: Both the point load and the uniaxial compressive tests are conducted on the strongly weathered granite rock samples from a project site in Panshan District, Tianjin City. The parameters in calculating the point load strength are studied in the tests. The method in the current design code of estimating the uniaxial compressive strength from the point load values is discussed and the correlations between the point load test results and the uniaxial compressive strength values are developed.
