Abstract:  A series of tests, such as water content, density, miniature vane shear, and micro penetration, were performed at the scene on the samples collected by piston gravity coring in COMRA Cruise 32 Voyage in Pigafetta Basin and the Central Pacific Basin. The physical and mechanical properties of the surface sediments of deepsea basin indicate high water content，low density，low shear strength and low penetration resistance. There are good correlations among the different geotechnical parameters. The variation of the parameters can also be generally correlated with the depth.
