Abstract: The landslide between Station K1661+370 and 420 of State Route 209 is located in Xingshan County, Yichang City. This ancient landslide was reactivated by the excessive precipitation. The landslide mechanisms are discussed based on the thorough understanding of the site geological conditions. The main triggering factors identified are: expansion of the fissures; precipitations; and human activities. The sliding body was evaluated with the limit equilibrium method. The mitigation measures are a combination of railtrack pile supported retaining wall with the surface drainage.  The construction results indicate that the landside treatment measure is successful.
