Abstract: The existing retaining wall for the river bank slope along the north side of the East Jiangpu Road in Xijiao Township, Foshan City is a castinplace reinforced concrete wall. The design of the new retaining wall considers the characteristics of the existing wall, subsurface geotechnical and hydrological conditions, the adjacent environments and the previous successful experience in the design and construction of the prestressed ground anchors in the area. During the construction, the horizontal movements of soils behind the retaining wall were monitored and the results verified feasibility of the design method.
