Abstract: Reservoir pool level fluctuation is considered as one of important factors that induced the reservoir landslides.  The impact of the pool level fluctuation of Bokou Reservoir on the Aoyugou filled embankment slopes is analyzed be the combinations of seepage field finite element method (FEM) and limit equilibrium method. The results indicate: the safety factors on the embankment slopes are reduced initially and increased later under the pool level fluctuations. The large deformation of the embankment slopes occurred during the initial stage of pooling and discharging periods. A stable status can be found during the later stages of both operations of pooling and discharging.
