Abstract: The geotechnical and engineering geology investigation aspects of a landslide mitigation project in Nanba Township of Xuanhan County are presented in this paper. The geological characteristics of the landslide are investigated. The evaluation work on the mechanism of the slide, slide controlling and triggering factors is conducted and the mitigation measures are also presented. The investigation and evaluation results indicate that the precipitation is the triggering factor and the planar slide is the result of excessive rainfall. The mitigation project is therefore focused on the sliding support and installation of the appropriate surface drainage system.
