Abstract: The selfcorrelated coefficient of time and spatial variations of the ground surface subsidence induced by a shaft excavation is studied in this paper. It is concluded that the time series have nonstationary property, in other words, the subsidence of ground surface has a deterministic trend. For the ground subsidence induced by a shaft excavation, time and space are two independent variables, and the ground subsidence is a function of time and space. It is possible to predict the ground subsidence during the construction.
Key words: ground subsidence series, selfcorrelation coefficient, deterministic trend
