Abstract: The fissures and the high permeability are the characteristics of the basaltic residual soils. This paper presents the finite element analysis of the stability problems of the basaltic residual soil slopes strengthened by different supporting methods using preferential flow and fluidstructure interaction concept. The results show that, under the combination of concrete retaining wall panels, prestressed ground anchors with the shotcrete on the steel nettings, the basaltic residual slopes could stay stable under extreme rainfall conditions. The results also indicate that the precipitation has a significant adverse effect on the safety factor of the treated residual soil slopes.
