Modification and verification of triaxial apparatus for creep test

Abstract: Creep plays an important role in geotechnical related analysis, such as foundation settlement and slope stability. The creep characteristic has been a focus all over the world. This paper discusses the equipment and testing procedure for the creep test, and proposes an approach to modify the conventional triaxial test apparatus to meet the requirement for creep test.  The modified equipment is capable of performing stress controlled triaxial creep test.  The test results from the modified equipment compares well with results of experimental test.
