A Soil-structure Interface Model and Its Experimental Verification

Abstract: The selection of a proper interface model is very important in simulating the stressstrain behavior of soil mass. The paper evaluates the conventional hyperbolic and modified RambergOsgood interface models. From the energy dissipation point of view, the static and kinematic shear system is analyzed and a new threeparameter interface model is derived. The experimental studies also show that this new model can appropriately simulate various interfaces between soil and other materials.
