Abstract: The geotechnical and geological characteristics of expansive soils in Sudan are briefly reviewed in this paper. The various expansive soil treatment methods are studied in a case history of transformer substation foundations on expansive soils. A cost effective solution for expansive soil treatment is provided in this paper.
