Abstract: The common geological hazards in the karst areas are: lack of bearing resistance, rock and soil cavities and sinkhole collapses. The compacted cement and gravel columns combined with the cement pressure grouting methods are used to treat the unfavorable grounds with uneven soil thickness with poor bearing capacity and highly developed karstic rock cavities. The bearing capacity of the treated ground is examined and verified with the standard penetration testing. The results indicated that the combination of compacted cement gravel columns combined with cement pressure grouting methods was successful in improving the soil foundations in the karst terrain.
