Abstract: This paper presents the results of a creeped red clay slope triggered by the rainfall. The soil parameters were determined by the fast shear testing. The soil slope was back analyzed by the residual thrust method. Slope with both global shear failure plane and segmented shear plane were considered since the slope might be homogeneous and heterogeneous. The back analysis results indicate that shear strength parameters obtained by the fast shear testing are appropriate. Further, due to the characteristics of the red clay slopes, the precipitation has an important impact on the development of the shear plane. The shallow failure mode is then developed and it is proved this mode is reasonable.
