Abstract: This paper presents a case history of a deep excavation supporting and dewatering design. The alternates of the supporting systems are compared and selected based on the site engineering geological and hydrological conditions. The site average permeability coefficient and radius of the dewatering cone are determined through the experience in similar site conditions. The dewatering design considered measures for both the upper perched groundwater and the lower artesian groundwater. The water collecting ditches are provided for the upper perched water. The dewatering requirements for the lower artesian water are carefully examined. The results indicate that the design point well spacing and the number of pinot wells are appropriate. The dewatering system is adequate for the deep excavation construction.
