Abstract: In recent years, the deep excavation projects increase rapidly. Observational construction is one of the important methods that can improve the construction efficiency and reduce the accident. The observational construction is one of the modern construction management methods that involved with the application of the system engineering. The system engineering includes the data acquisition, information feedback, back analysis and forecast, and decision making. The dynamic design during the construction has more and more applications recently. This paper presents a state of the art review of the construction monitoring of the deep excavation projects. Monitoring equipment and measures, excavation deformation prediction and control, as well as the forecasting of the excavation hazards are also introduced in the paper.
