Abstract

Abstract: Numerical analysis using coupled seepage and stress fields was performed to model the tunnel excavation at the Hongshigou tunnel project. The analysis indicated a significant increase in stress and deformation in the rock due to the consideration of seepage. Therefore, it is important to consider the effect of coupled seepage effect on excavation and lining design.
