Abstract: The trial dynamic compaction tests were conducted on a dredged ground with prefabricated vertical drains. The settlement of the craters and the ground heaves around the craters during the dynamic compaction were monitored. The effective soil improvement depth, the duration of the pore pressure dissipation as well as the optimum compaction numbers are analyzed in the paper. The results of the dynamic compaction were examined by the static plate loading tests and the cone penetration tests.
