Abstract: Since Marston proposed his famous theory of soil pressure last century, various researchers performed wide and indepth researches on the vertical earth pressures acting on the underground pipes. However, majority of these researches are focused on either projective condition or trench condition. The earth pressures on the jacked underground pipes are rarely reported. This paper presents a case history of vertical pressures acting on a jacked pipe underneath a pond.
