Abstract: Conventional ground deformation monitoring is to survey surface displacements. In supporting structure installations for deep excavations, it is especially more important to monitor the deformation inside the soil mass so that the potential structure instability can be forecasted by evaluation of internal deformation at various locations. This paper presents the results of stability evaluations of supporting structures for the deep excavation of an underground parking garage using lateral soil displacements measured by inclinometers.
