Control of Cracking in Concrete Raft Foundation  for a Reactor Unit at a Nuclear Power Plant

Abstract: A case history of the concrete placement of CPR1000 Reactor raft foundation at Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Plant, is presented in this paper.  The entire concrete raft foundation was placed in a single pour.  Factors that impact the control and prevention of cracking of mass concrete, such as material properties of concrete, pouring temperature, and additional reinforcement, were analyzed.  Concrete strain and temperature were monitored during construction.
