Abstract: Frequent collapse-type geohazards occur in the red-bed hilly region of eastern Sichuan, posing significant risks to daily production and living activities, particularly in areas experiencing intense rainfall during the flood season. Rainfall is the dominant triggering factor for collapses in this region, yet the associated deformation mechanisms and failure modes vary considerably. Typical failure patterns include bedding-parallel translational collapse, sliding–tensile cracking, and unloading–faulting types. Compared with the relatively abundant research on red-bed landslides, systematic studies and targeted mitigation strategies for collapse hazards remain insufficient. To address this gap, this study focuses on the most common hazard type in the red-bed hilly terrain—bedding-parallel collapses. By analyzing their deformation mechanisms and synthesizing effective disaster-prevention measures, the work provides practical guidance and technical support for disaster prevention, mitigation, and emergency response in eastern Sichuan.
