Abstract: To reduce the serious damage caused by the landslide hazards to the loss of human life and property, it is necessary to study the landslide phenomenon and the stability analysis to improve our understanding of the potential landslide risk. The Baibao landslide in the Three Gorges Reservoir area was selected as the research object and the field observation data were analyzed. The groundwater variation and stability of four different rainfall types were simulated by using the Geo-Studio software. The results show that the material composition of the slope body is favorable to the rainfall infiltration. The continuous rainfall that occurred in early July 2020 was the direct factor leading to the sliding of the slope body. The internal friction angle and cohesion were obtained from the test results of the field soil samples.  The rainfall in 10 days is the peak rainfall type, and the fastest drop in the factor of safety. These will further increase the probability of the landslide instability. This study can provide a reference for the subsequent theoretical support and prevention of such landslides.
