Deformation Control Methods of a Deep Excavation Near a Large Diameter Pipeline

Abstract: With the rapid development of China's urbanization process, the development and utilization of urban underground space has entered the fast lane. The surrounding environment of deep excavation engineering is more and more complex, and there are more and more deep excavation projects near the large diameter municipal pipelines. As an important urban infrastructure, the protection requirements of these large-diameter municipal pipelines are much higher than other conventional utilities. How to control the influence of deep excavation on the adjacent large diameter pipeline has become a key challenge faced by many deep excavation projects. This paper presents a deep excavation project of Chenming Culture Square in Xinzhuang Business District of Shanghai. Several targeted control measures are compared with the numerical simulation results.
