Abstract: With the increasing number of deep excavation projects in urban area, the buildings that are adjacent to these excavations will inevitably be affected by the construction activities. The degree of the influence is affected by the minimum distance between the surrounding buildings and the proposed excavation; Also, it is dependent to the types of the existing buildings as well as the excavation. In order to further study the deep excavation induced deformation on the nearby existing buildings, the foundation excavation supporting of Shenzhen Kingkey East Coast Times Building is presented in this paper. The excavation process was three-dimensionally simulated and the deformation of the deep excavation on the adjacent buildings was investigated. The results show that the deep excavation induced deformation could influence the nearby building. Compared with the high-rise and pile supported buildings, buildings with shallow foundation are more affected by the deep excavation. The results show that all the excavation induced deformation parameters on adjacent buildings meet the code requirements.
