Abstract: The pile head settlement consists of the compression value of pile shaft and the soil settlement at the pile tip. The coefficient of the pile shaft compressibility is a critical parameter of in determining the pile shaft compressibility. This paper compares the measured coefficients pile shaft compressibility with the values that recommended by the construction code. It is concluded that the measured values might significantly different from the code recommended values. Factors that affecting the coefficient of the pile shaft compressibility are evaluated and the vertical load transfer function along the pile shaft is introduced to estimate the coefficient of pile shaft compressibility using the ratio of pile length to diameter and ratio of pile head loading to tip loading.
