Abstract: A local horizontal earth pressure estimation method is proposed based on the review of existing methods of estimating lateral earth pressure on doublerow piles. The proposed method considers the friction angles between the pile and adjacent soils as well as cohesion of soils. This method focuses soils between piles and after the doublerow pile structure and the angle of slip surface to the horizontal line is obtained through trial and error so that the active earth pressure on the doublerow pile structure can be derived. This proposed earth pressure method is based on the finite bar element theory and elastic beam theory and is applied in a case history to evaluate the effect of spacing between front and rear piles on the bending moment and displacement on piles.
