Abstract: With advantages of safe and wide range of applicable geological strata, the shielded tunnel excavation method receives wider applications. However, the soil disturbance during the tunnel excavation will result in the ground subsidence, especially, in saturated sand layers. This paper presents a ground subsidence prediction results of shielded tunnel excavation in the Nanchang Regional Subway System project. Both PECK method and finite element methods are used to predict the building settlement over saturated sand layers during the tunnel excavation. The results are compared with the construction monitoring results and found they are satisfactory.
