Numerical Analysis of the Lateral Rigidity of the Waler in a Soldier Pile and Anchor Supported Deep Excavation

Abstract: The spatial effect of the reinforced concrete waler system at the top of the soldier pile has different impacts on the lateral deflection as well as the internal force in the soldier pile and ground anchor supporting system in the deep excavation. The lateral deflection and the stress in the reinforced concrete waler of a soldier pileanchor supported deep excavation in Changsha are monitored and predicted through commercial software FLAC3D. The role of the rigidity of waler system in the soldier pileanchor supported system is investigated and the simplified rigidity analysis method is proposed for the engineering practitioners.
