Abstract: The paper presents a successful project utilizing jet grouting secant piles with ground anchors and dewatering well for deep excavation in Jianghan Plain alluvial soil. The project is located in the District of Fancheng, Xiangyang City and it involves constructing 3floor underground basement of 4260 square meters with an excavation depth of 15 meters. The subsurface consists of mainly Jianghan Plain alluvial overburden with exposed gravel layer within the limits of excavation. The project location is only 300 meter away from Hanjiang River and the ground water table is about 3.0 meter below the existing ground. The support of excavation requires to consider retaining soils, seepage control, bottom heave or boiling, and etc.
