Abstract: This paper presents a case history of the deep excavation dewatering for a highrise building in the Sunshine New Town Residential Community development. The site dewatering influence radius as well as the comprehensive coefficient of the site were determined from the site specific geological and hydrological conditions. Then well point dewatering design was able to be performed and the well point distribution can be determined by using a zoned complete submerged well model. The construction results indicated that the number of well points as well as the spacing of the well points could meet the design as well as code requirements. The safety construction of the deep excavation and the foundation work can be ensured. The combination of the closed rectangular well system with the double row well point dewatering system are a reliable, safe and cost effective approach.
