Abstract: The evaluation the correlations among the physical and mechanical properties of the finegrained tailing soil is of great significance on the reliability research of physical and mechanical parameters as well as the saving soil test cost. This paper presents the results of the regression analysis on the physical properties by using both mathematical statistics and linear regression analysis methods. The empirical relationships between mechanical properties and physical properties are established. The statistical analysis results indicate, there is no significant variance in the physical and mechanical properties of tailing silt and a strong correlation can be found. For the design purposes, the average values of the tailing silt soil physical and mechanical index values can be used without considering the variability.
