Abstract: The effect of deformation of the bearing plates on the testing results of the laboratory uniaxial compression of intact rock samples are discussed in this paper. The proposed correction method can be summarized as following: Plotting the relationship between the measured incremental deformations, which is the measured differences under the current applied pressure, P and the previous pressure, and the incremental applied pressures. The deformation under the first applied pressure can be estimated based on extrapolating the plotted curve; therefore, the following incremental loadings can be corrected accordingly.
