Abstract: This paper presents a case study of the supporting design for a deep excavation. The geotechnical design parameters are obtained through a thorough investigation of the site topographical, geotechnical and hydrological conditions in combination with insitu and laboratory test results. The final supporting system selected was the rotary drilled and cast-in-place soldier piles plus three layers of reinforced concrete beam supports. The jet grout was utilized to seal off groundwater among soldier piles. The paper also briefly introduces the deep excavation construction and the site monitoring program.
