Abstract: This paper presents a case history of the application of dynamic compaction in the large battery factory foundation constructions over the thick newly filled materials. The fill material consisted of medium consistency silty clay, strongly to moderately weathered sandstone and sandy claystone fragments. The average grain size of the fill materials is between 500 and 800 mm with a localized large size ranging from 1200 to 1800 mm. The thickness of the newly filled material is between 3.5 m and 21.5 m. The paper introduces the dynamic compaction procedures in these fills.
