Abstract: Additional settlement will occur at the adjacent area due to the consolidation effect of the soil mass when a deep excavation site is dewatering. This paper presents a case history of a deep excavation in Tianjin West Subway Station Transportation Hub project. The measures of minimizing the dewatering at the deep excavation on the additional settlement on the existing subway and adjacent structures are discussed. The most economical and safe procedures were developed and optimized.
