Seismic Response Analyses at a Power Plant Site

Abstract: In this study, the time histories of the synthetic bedrock ground motions have been generated to simulate various earthquake moment magnitudes at probabilities of 10%, 2%, and 1% in fifty years level with an epicentral distances of 40 km. Applying these bedrock time histories into the soil profiles of a power plant site in northern Hunam Province. By using surface seismic shear wave method, which is a one\|dimensional, equivalent\|linear analysis, the ground response under the seismic ground motion was obtained. The computed acceleration time histories, response spectrum and amplification spectrum are most useful parameters for seismic design.
