Construction Method of Fault and Crush Zone in Horizontal Rock Strata

Abstract: The fault and crush zone was one of the geological structures which blocked up the tunnel construction. Especially, when the rock strata was horizontal, the collapse would be happened during tunnel excavation, which made it difficult. The probability and extent of collapse of WuBang 1# tunnel was analyzed by means of the geological forecast in advance. Then the technique of the advanced small pipe and the grouting of the mixture of cement and sodium silicate are adopted to reinforce the surrounding rock. Meanwhile the deformation of surrounding rock was monitored and related data was feedback to guideline the construction, which made the construction informational. It proved that the deformation of surrounding rock was controlled and the construction of fault zone was securitized.
