Abstract: The trend of the deep excavation support is turning from the single method to a combination of different methods. In the engineering practice, meeting the objective of the cost effective, technical feasibility, and environmental safety leads to the new combination of deep excavation support: soil nailed wall for the upper support and the ground anchor for the lower portion of excavation support. This paper present a deep excavation case history in Xingtai City. The combination of soil nailed wall and the ground anchor method is proved to be very effective, the ground subsidence is smaller than that of the similar excavation elsewhere. The computed settlement results are consistent with the observed values.
