Abstract: Field static uplift loading tests were performed on steel pipe piles with and without grouts in order to explore the effect of the grout on the uplift resistance and to obtain the static uplift loading test curves for piles in thick soft soils. The grouting zone on the axial uplift capacity of single piles was studied throughout the finite element analysis. The results indicate that the uplift loaddisplacement curve is "gradual change" type. The grout improves the surrounding soils as well as roughens the pilesoil interface. An increase of effective diameter can be found at the grouting holes and therefore, improves the uplift capacity of steel piles.
