Abstract: The normal operation of the submarine production system will be adversely affected by the emergency anchor drops. Approaches of model tests and numerical simulations are used in this paper to analyze the influence of anchor drops on protective devices for the submarine production system. At the first, a dynamic model test of anchoring impact is designed based on the practical engineering, to conduct the corresponding tests at different heights of dropping anchors. Time domain responses of the protective device are analyzed: the protective device is impacted followed by a second impact. Secondly, the dynamic interaction model of the anchor drop-protective system-submarine soil is established using the commonly used finite element software i.e. ABAQUS to conduct related numerical simulations. The practicability of the finite element model is verified through results of the model tests.
