Abstract: This case study demonstrates the design and monitoring of a vegetated steep reinforced soil slope above an anchored soldier pile and lagging wall for the residential development of Twelve Oak Trees in Shenzhen City. The concept of stiff soldier pile combined with the flexible anchor was applied in the soldier pile and lagging wall design to ensure the longterm stability of the cut slope. The technical details of both vegetated reinforced soil slope and the anchored soldier pile and lagging wall are introduced in the paper. The deformations of this combined retaining system during and after the construction were recorded and analyzed.
