Abstract: The static pressed-in pre-casted prestressed reinforced concrete pipe piles have become increasingly popular due to their advantages of short construction period, applicable to a wide range of soils and minimized noise. The pile installation induced defects are unavoidably existed despite the effective quality control and quality assurance measures applied in the construction. This paper presents a case history of defect mitigation of pre-casted concrete piles installed in the third relocation residential district for the West Highspeed Rail Passenger Station Project in Jinan City. The defected pre-casted concrete piles are evaluated and categorized. Recommendations are proposed for piles that above the desired pile tip elevation, axial capacity that lower than the design value and piles having integrity concerns.
