Abstract: The comparative study of the artificially accelerated aging and natural ambient aging tests were performed o four different woven polypropylene fabric samples. The following conclusions can be summarized: under the same area and weight, the ambient aging results shown no significant differences over geotextiles with different aging retardation additives. However, woven polypropylene with more aging retardation additives has longer resistant time in the artificially accelerated aging tests. The results also show that the mechanisms between the natural ambient aging and artificially accelerated aging are different. From the relationship between the artificially accelerated aging and natural ambient aging, the rates of artificial aging are different for woven polypropylene with different amount of aging retardation additives.
