Abstract: Landfill of municipal solid waste (MSW) is a special kind of geotechnical structures constructed with linear system and collection system for gas and leachate. The characteristics of MSW is different from other soils, because of its great grains, complicated components and high temperature. The osmotic suction is influenced by the solute of leachate. The compression of MSW is influenced by the bio\|degradation, while its strength is influenced by the reinforcements of the fiber materials. Soil and ground water are easily contaminated the leakage of leachate, in which three different transport types of contaminants includes: the rules of advection, diffusion and adsorption. The influence of multi field coupling action of solid, gas, liquid, and thermo should be considered for the settlement calculation and stability analysis and the influence of the suction should be further studied.
