Deformation Criteria for Uplift Anchors

Abstract: The uplift anchors for the buoyancy design in underground projects have received wider applications and become increasingly matured. However, there are no current design and construction code available for the guidance. This paper presents an allowable deformation criteria for the uplift anchors throughout the theoretical analysis of the deformation of the uplift anchors. A case history of the uplift anchor in an underground project Shenzhen is also presented. The deformation of uplift anchors is analyzed by using finite element analysis. The deformation of the uplift anchors in the numerical analysis is obtained and is found to be close to the analytical value.
